It is also a great representative of the Asian culture, as it is located in the south part of Asia next to India. The island is covered in all sides by the big Indian Ocean which makes it even more appealing to visitors. If you are planning a trip to Sri Lanka and want to know how to get there then this article is for you. Here is everything you need to know about Sri Lanka just before you visit it.

The first thing that tourists need to obtain is the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) which grants them access to Sri Lanka. Just like every other country, Sri Lanka has agreements with certain countries about Visa and their citizens could be exempt from such documents. Citizens from the Visa-exempt countries that Sri Lanka has agreements with must have a diplomatic or official passport.

Some of these countries are Bangladesh, Brazil, Cuba, India, Kenya, Nepal, Pakistan, and Russia. In August 2019, the country announced a modified version of the ETA that allows citizens from the European Union, as well as big countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, and the United States among many others, to enter Sri Lanka without Visa.

The period of this modified version starts from August 1, 2019, and ends on April 30, 2020.
